5 Archive #01 – Rebecca Moon of The Green Ray

Music Valley Archive makes clothing & collectibles to help you rep Nashville's old school soul. Here on 5 Archive, Music City-based artists, creators and small business owners share their 5 current obsessions.

—————

Rebecca Moon is the owner of The Green Ray in Nashville, TN. Born and raised in Murfreesboro, TN she spent her free time as a teen going to big chain suburbia bookstores and wishing there were a cooler place to hang that carried books and other printed matter for the weirdos, artists and freaks. Inspired by photography/art specific bookstores she frequented while traveling, Rebecca opened The Green Ray in 2021 and hasn’t looked back. She spends most of her time either at the shop, hiking with her dogs or sinking into a movie at the Belcourt.

Studio Ghibli Nature Loop on (HBO) Max
I don’t know about y’all, but sometimes I need to self-soothe like a newborn baby in their crib after crying for 15 minutes to no avail. I forget who turned me on to this 30 minute Ghibli Nature Loop on MAX, but I truly feel someone made this specifically for me. I put this on when I’m cleaning the house, doing taxes, sorting invoices or forcing a nap. As lovely as it gets.

Ponsont Incense Paper

The most decadent smelling incense papers. They have two scents: Le Patch and Rosa Rossa. I go back and forth between the two. They come in a matchbook-like booklet and you tear off a sliver, accordion fold it and light the corner. Phenomenal. We carry them at the shop because I can’t live without.

Bjorn Corn Truffle Popcorn

Until discovering Bjorn Corn, I had a pretty strict FRESHLY POPPED OR BUST popcorn policy. They truly changed the game. Though they do have other delicious flavors like the OG, Maple and Spicy, the stand-out for me is the Truffle ‘corn. Truffle is a love or hate flavor I am finding out, but for me, it’s tops. I can go through a bag in a shockingly short amount of time. We also carry these in the store, which is why I have to reorder so often when I’m working the desk ;’)))

King of the Hill Reruns

Life in Nashville has been wack af here lately. Real BOZO stuff. When I need a break from the news cycle I turn to my old friends Hank, Peggy, Bobby and Dale for a little visit. One of my go-to comfort shows. And I hear they’re working on a reboot? Let’s hope it’s true. For us all. “That’s my purse! I don’t know you!”

ONINO Chili Crisp
Someone asked us to carry this and when I posted about it when they arrived — THEY ALL SOLD. Every jar. Same day as I put them out. Anyway, of course I had to try for myself and yes, it lives up to the hype. Perfectly crunchy and not too spicy, which means you can easily go through a jar in two days. More on the way!
